MONROEVILLE, Pa. - Ruth (Whitehill) Hrizo, 75, formerly of Monroeville, died Monday afternoon, Dec. 2, 2013, with family at her side, in Presbyterian Senior Care, Oakmont.
Born June 23, 1938, in Hookstown, she was a daughter of the late Joseph Clyde and Anna Elizabeth (Searight) Whitehill. Mrs. Hrizo had worked as a nurse in the health care profession at Magee-Women's Hospital, and also taught nursing at Penn State. She had worked with the Malignant Hyperthermia Association and was a member of the Cross Roads Presbyterian Church of Monroeville.
Surviving are her husband, John Hrizo; a son and daughter-in-law, John J. and Stacy Hrizo; and a daughter and son-in-law, Mary E. and Jason Green. She was the sister of Earl, David, Joseph and Bill Whitehill, Lois Clark and the late George Whitehill and Mary Whitehill. Also surviving are two grandchildren, Donna E. Green and Cameron L. Hrizo.
Family and friends are welcome to call on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the McConnell Funeral Home, 447 Pine St., Hookstown, PA 15050, Daniel M. McConnell, Owner-Director, where her services will be conducted Saturday at 11 a.m. Her pastor, the Rev. Rob Marrow, of the Cross Roads Presbyterian Church, Monroeville, will officiate. She will be laid to rest in Mill Creek Hill Cemetery, Georgetown.
